Auctions: Our Top Picks From The Watches For ELA Charity Auction

By Andy Hoffman

Andy Hoffman of Hodinkee picks the standout lots from Watches for ELA, a charity auction held as part of the Christie's Rare Watches sale in Geneva on November 9. The sale comprises 21 unique pieces from brands and independent watchmakers, with all proceeds going to ELA International, which funds research into leukodystrophies and supports patients and families. Hoffman points to Zinédine Zidane's first proper watch, a quartz chronograph Cartier Pasha with oval subdials bought more than three decades ago, which Zidane says was chosen with care. Other highlights include a skeletonized Felipe Pikullik Mondphase 1, a Tissot PRX pair in green waffle dials with 18k gold bezels, and a Montblanc Iced Sea whose dial uses ancient subfossil wood. Hoffman also singles out the Alpina Alpiner Carrée, which Hoffman expects to exceed its estimate.
