Direnzo has introduced the DRZ 08 Cosmonaire, its first watch with a GMT complication, ahead of the brand's tenth anniversary next year. Zach Kazan walks through the Space Age-inspired case with its elliptical bezel, the bowl-shaped dial with its lacquered panier pattern, and the six launch variants, including meteorite and Isotope limited editions. The watch is open for pre-order at a reduced price, and Kazan notes reservations about the caliber GMT movement's usefulness for travel.

Direnzo Introduces their First GMT, the DRZ 08 Cosmonaire

By Zach Kazan

Direnzo introduces the DRZ 08 Cosmonaire, its first watch with a GMT function, as the brand heads toward its tenth anniversary next year. Zach Kazan of Worn & Wound describes the Space Age inspired design as a travel tool with a soft geometry case and an elliptical bezel that is thinner at the 3 and 9 o'clock sides. The watch comes in six dial variants, including a meteorite limited edition of 60 pieces and an Isotope limited edition of 40 pieces, and it measures 39 mm across with 100 meters of water resistance. Kazan credits Direnzo for the case but questions the Sellita SW330-2 caller GMT movement, which is considered less useful for travel than electronic alternatives. Pre-orders are open at CHF 1,200 for standard editions and CHF 1,350 for the limited editions.

  • Liked: The soft geometry case design, which tries something genuinely different
  • Disliked: The Sellita SW330-2 GMT movement, which is not very useful for travel
